About Barton Rovers

Barton Rovers are a semi-professional club based in Barton-le-Clay, Bedfordshire. Nicknamed the Rovers, they were established in 1898 and play at Sharpenhoe Road, known as the Winton Haulage Stadium.

They compete in the Southern League Division One Central for the 2026/27 season. In 2025–26 they finished 9th of 22. The ground has a capacity of 4,000 with 160 seats and 1,120 covered, including the main stand and a covered terrace opposite.

The club reached the FA Vase final in 1977–78 and won eight South Midlands League Premier Division titles between 1970 and 1979. A new Gorgeous George Stand was built in 2024.

Stadium History & Features

Barton Rovers joined the South Midlands League after World War II and dominated the Premier Division in the 1970s with eight titles in nine seasons. They moved into the Isthmian League in 1979 and reached the FA Cup first round in 1980–81.

The club were Southern League Division One Central play-off finalists in 2014–15 and 2016–17, finishing third in the division in the latter season. Sharpenhoe Road is also home to Luton Town Ladies.
