About Blyth Spartans

Blyth Spartans Association Football Club are based in Blyth, Northumberland. Founded in September 1899 and nicknamed the Spartans, they are one of English non-league football's best-known names.

They compete in the Northern Premier League East for 2026/27, having been relegated twice in succession from the National League North. In 2025–26 they finished 16th of 22.

The club's most famous achievement remains reaching the FA Cup fifth round in 1977–78, beating Stoke City along the way before losing to Wrexham in a replay at St James' Park.

Croft Park opened on 1 September 1909; the first match was a friendly against Newcastle United (lost 4–2). Major redevelopments took place from 2003 onwards, with terracing replaced, roofs added on three sides, and the Port of Blyth main stand extended.

By 2009 all four sides of Croft Park had cover. The Port of Blyth Stand is two-tier with over 530 covered seats; other stands include the Tynetec Stand, Fergy Space Stand and F. Southern Stand, each holding around 1,200 on terracing.
