About Dunston

Dunston Football Club (full name Dunston UTS Football Club) are based in the Dunston area of Gateshead, Tyne and Wear. Founded in 1975 as a works team, they are nicknamed the Fed after former sponsor Dunston Federation Brewery.

They compete in the Northern Premier League East for 2026/27 and finished 4th of 22 in 2025–26, having been NPL East runners-up and lost the 2024–25 play-off final on penalties to Stocksbridge Park Steels.

The club won the FA Vase at Wembley in 2011–12, beating West Auckland Town 2–0 in the final.

After success in the Newcastle City Amateur League, the club leased land from Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council that became Wellington Road. It was renamed the UTS Stadium in 2009 as part of a sponsorship deal with UTS Engineering.

The ground has capacity 2,500 with 150 seats and 400 covered standing. Record attendance is 2,520 (FA Cup fourth qualifying round vs Gateshead, October 2018).

Getting to UTS Stadium

By Car

From the north: A1 south/Gateshead, past MetroCentre, take Dunston/Whickham exit, turn left at slip road, pass petrol station on left — ground 100 yards round the bend on the left.

From the south: A1 past Angel of the North, take Whickham/Dunston exit (A184), turn right at slip road, pass petrol station on left — ground 100 yards round the bend on the left.

By Cycle

National Cycle Network route 141 (Keelmans Way) runs through Dunston, approximately 0.2 miles north of the UTS Stadium.

Travel Tip

On cup days or when large crowds are expected, police cones may restrict parking on Wellington Road — arrive early or use streets around the ground.
