The club initially played at Causeway Farm before moving to Green Lane in 1953, later renamed the Memorial Playing Fields. They were founder members of the Home Counties League in 1978 and Combined Counties champions in 1982–83.

Hartley Wintney won promotion to the Southern League via the 2017–18 play-offs but were relegated from the Premier Division South in 2022–23. Record attendance is 1,392 against AFC Wimbledon in January 2003.
