About Pontefract Collieries

Pontefract Collieries — The Colls — were founded in 1958 by miners from the Prince of Wales Colliery. They play at The Hunters Stadium on Beechnut Lane (historically Skinner Lane) near the former colliery site.

The community club hosts more than 50 teams across seniors, academy, juniors and disability football. Recent years brought back-to-back promotions from NCEL Division One and the Premier Division before establishing at NPL East level.

Stadium History & Features

Beechnut Lane / Skinner Lane has been the Colls' home since the club's formation. Floodlights were inaugurated in 1987 with a friendly against Hull City watched by a then-record crowd of about 1,000.

Main-stand seats came from Manchester City's old Maine Road ground. In 2025 the grass pitch was replaced with a FIFA Pro standard 3G surface alongside wider ground improvements and new food and beverage facilities.

Away Fan Seating

No dedicated away end is published. Covered terracing behind one goal and seated areas in the main stand serve all supporters unless a cup tie requires segregation.

From M62 junction 32 head towards Pontefract past the racecourse. At the roundabout with the business park and McDonald's take the third exit, keep left at the lights, descend the hill and follow the track round to the stadium on Beechnut Lane (WF8 4FU).
