Takeley joined the Bishop's Stortford, Stansted and District League after World War I and won the Premier Division three consecutive times between 1975 and 1977 before joining the Essex Olympian League.
They won the Essex Olympian League in 1987–88 and 2001–02, and the Essex Premier Cup in 2006–07. After joining the Essex Senior League they finished third in their first season and reached the play-offs in 2024–25.
The club's original pitches were in Hatfield Forest before moving to Station Road. Record attendance of 1,003 was set for the 2025 play-off final against Woodford Town.
