About West Auckland Town

West Auckland Town are famous as winners of the Sir Thomas Lipton Trophy — an early international club competition — in 1909 and 1911, predating the FIFA World Cup. The amateur colliery side beat Stuttgart and Juventus on their trips to Turin.

Reformed as West Auckland Town in 1914, the club won Northern League titles in 1960 and 1961 and reached FA Vase finals at Wembley in 2012 and 2014. They earned NPL East promotion via the 2025–26 Northern League Division One play-offs.
